A new cuvée from Collin debuts with the NVExtra-Brut Les Jardin d'Ulysse (2015), a wine that derives from a small parcelin the heart of Congy, right behind Collin's home and winery. Planted with ablend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, it's entirely derived fromthe 2015 vintage and was disgorged this March after 60 months sur lattes.Offering up aromas of citrus oil, crisp green apple, white flowers, blanchedalmonds and nutmeg, it's full-bodied, chiseled and concentrated, with an amplecore of fruit that's underpinned by a tangy spine of acidity and a seamless, complete profile. Unsurprisingly given its blend, it's very different inpersonality from the rest of the range, and readers will enjoy comparing andcontrasting Les Jardin d'Ulysse with Collin's other bottlings. There's no trackrecord yet, but this first release appears to have the structure to be one ofthe domaine's longer-lived wines.
